Applications extended for Facade Improvement Incentive Scheme
Cassowary Coast business operators and building owners looking to take advantage of shopfront renovation subsidies are in luck after Council decided to extend the application deadline for the Façade Improvement Incentive Scheme at this week’s Economic Activation and Tourism Committee meeting.
Those interested will now have until 31 August to lodge their applications.
This extension comes after Council received a great amount of interest in the scheme.
During the meeting the Director of Planning and Regional Development Manfred Boldy said there were a number of people who had recently become very interested.
"There’s some people who would still like to take advantage of this scheme and that is why we would like to extend the closing date from this week until the end of August," said Mr Boldy.
"There’s some very interesting proposals, one in particular from Tully."
Councillor Ben Heath said it’s great to see such a positive uptake from local business operators and building owners.
"This is the type of economic activation that we have been wanting to see in the region," said Cr Heath.
"What a great start to hear that we’d had to review the closing date due to an increased amount of interest in the scheme."
The Façade Improvement Incentive Scheme allows building owners and business operators to apply for a grant from Council who will potentially provide funding to contribute to a portion of the renovation costs.
