Entries open for the Cassowary Coast Tropical Garden Challenge
Calling on green thumbs - entries are now open for the 2017 Cassowary Coast Regional Council Tropical Garden Challenge.
Cassowary Coast Mayor John Kremastos says there are categories for all ages and garden types.
"We have 10 categories this year including everything from home gardens and vegetable patches to schools and gardens at businesses,'' Cr Kremastos said.
"We also have a most colourful garden section - a new category last year which was a popular one.
"And don't be put off if you have a small garden - we have a front garden category and an outdoor living area category as well as prizes for the best overall rural and residential garden."
Council's Tropical Garden Challenge organiser Judy Murphy said the Cassowary Coast was a wonderful place to garden.
" The diversity of our region, from drier woodlands and beaches to wet rainforests, offers a variety of climates to express our gardening styles,'' she said.
"It's always a pleasure for judges to visit the many wonderful creations of our local gardeners right across the region.
"So join in the fun, share your inspirations and gardening stories and be eligible to win a category prize or the champion garden prize for 2017."
Green thumbs need to enter by Friday 15 September.
Judging will be in September, with the awards event and gardeners' get-together over afternoon tea at Warrina Lakes Gardens in Innisfail.
