Sand Replenishment Work - South Mission Beach
Sand replenishment work will begin next week at South Mission Beach.
1200 tonnes of sand will be placed along a 200m section at the southern end of South Mission Beach between Jackey Jackey St and Douglas St to protect Kennedy Esplanade, drainage and beach accesses by acting as a buffer against further erosion.
The sand replenishment project will begin on Tuesday (21 MARCH) and is expected to take three to four days to complete.
Cassowary Coast Regional Council has been undertaking sand nourishment work at South Mission Beach since 2006 as part of an ongoing shoreline erosion management plan for the area.
