Councillors to inspect region

Cassowary Coast Regional Council (CCRC) elected representatives will be hitting the road tomorrow (11/6/08) to inspect areas of the region they represent.

Councillors Bus TripThe road trip will be the first of a two day familiarisation for Councillors, providing the opportunity to meet external staff, inspect Council facilities and visit areas they may not be totally familiar with.

CCRC Acting Chief Executive Officer, Mr Mark Kelleher, said today that Councillors requested the chance to undertake the visits so they could be fully informed on issues and Council operations across the entire Council region.

“We will be heading off bright and early Wednesday (11/6/08) morning to visit sites in Tully and Cardwell then on 18th June we will tour sites in and around Innisfail,” he said.

Mr Kelleher said that other areas will be visited at later dates as time permits.

“This initiative shows that Councillors are committed to educating and informing themselves on issues directly relating to their new roles,” he said.

Councillors will be travelling by bus which departs from the Civic Centre Tully at 8.30 am today (Wednesday).
