Inaugural Logo Decided

At yesterday’s (12/6/08) Cassowary Coast Regional Council meeting Councillor’s voted to approve the inaugural logo for the region.

Council called for expressions of interest from graphic designers and the final design was that offered by Melanie Nucifora CCRC Logoof Creative Melon.

CCRC Mayor, Cr Bill Shannon said a Councillor’s workshop was held to choose the successful design and in the end the decision was unanimous.

“Ms Nucifora grew up in the Cowley Beach area and her design reflects a real understanding of the newly formed council region,” Cr Shannon said.

The logo depicts the ocean, beach and rainforest mountains with the mountain flowing into the a shape of the Council’s namesake, the cassowary.

“It’s a very clever design and one that has, so far brought very positive comments from those who have seen it.”

Cr Shannon thanked all designers who took the time and effort to have input into the process.

“This is a historic milestone for the amalgamation process and one that all Councillors were very proud to be part of,” he said.

CCRC will now progressively introduce the logo onto stationery, signage and uniforms.
