Film Festival Competition

Mental Health Week from October 5-11 is an annual national awareness event to

  • Promote good mental health
  • Raise awareness and help reduce stigma
  • Recognise and acknowledge the contributions that people living with mental illness make to our community

This is seen as an opportunity to celebrate good mental health. Good mental health is something that we all want for ourselves. It includes relationships, health, families, learning, happiness and peace of mind.

All over Australia events are organised by organisations, public mental health services, schools, consumer and carer groups, associations and councils.

This year’s theme for Mental Health Week is ‘Be Mind Wise’. Mental health is an essential part of our overall health and wellness and at times we all face challenges that test us. Staying healthy means looking after yourself physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually – Being Mind Wise. The Mental Health Association (Qld) are running a short story competition ‘Be Mind Wise – Everybody’s Life is a Hero’s Journey’.

In Innisfail a number of people have been meeting to organise activities for this week throughout the Cassowary Coast region. An innovative and exciting outcome has been the organisation of a short film festival promoting the theme ‘Everybody’s Life is a Hero’s Journey’.

The closing date for registration for the short film festival competition is Friday August 29th, 2008.

Further information including registration forms can be obtained by contacting Jenny Jensen on 4061 5327.
