Have your say on the future of the region

In early January 2009, the Cassowary Coast Regional Council (CCRC) will be consulting the community on the development of the Council’s new corporate plan.

Every council in Queensland is required to prepare a corporate plan. The CCRC plan will guide Council decision-making for this region over the next 10 years.

Cassowary Coast Mayor, Bill Shannon, urged residents to attend one of the scheduled community consultation sessions in Innisfail, Tully and Mission Beach to “have your say on the future of this region”.

“The corporate plan should answer the questions: what do we want our region to look like in 10 years’ time and how should the Council go about achieving this vision?” Cr. Shannon said.

“We are asking the community to help identify what opportunities and risks lie ahead for us in this region – and to let the Council know what you think our priorities should be.”

The consultation sessions will be professionally facilitated and are open to everyone to attend.

Sessions will be held at –

Community Date Time Venue
Mission Beach (and surrounds) 12/01/09 6.00 pm – 8.00 pm SMB Community Hall (Frogs Hollow), South Mission Beach Road
Innisfail (and surrounds) 13/01/09 6.00 pm – 8.00 pm Chjowai Hall, McGowan Drive
Tully (and surrounds) 14/01/09 6.00 pm – 8.00 pm Council Chambers Board Room, 38-40 Bryant Street

(Note: public consultation sessions have already been held at Cardwell.)

“Once the community has contributed its ideas and opinions, a draft plan will be prepared,” Cr. Shannon said. “This will also be made available to the community for comment.”
