Draft corporate plan available for perusal in February

The Cassowary Coast Regional Council aims to produce a draft Corporate Plan by the end of February, following the conclusion last week of a comprehensive series of community consultation sessions.

Cassowary Coast Mayor, Bill Shannon, the consultation process had included both focus group meetings with representatives of a diverse range of community organisations, as well as public meetings with residents throughout the region.

Focus group meetings were held in Cardwell, Tully, Mission Beach and Innisfail, while public meetings occurred in Cardwell, Tully and Innisfail.

“We wanted to ensure that everyone who has an interest in the future of this region was given ample opportunity to contribute their views on what they believe our priorities should be,” Cr. Shannon said.

“Unfortunately, the public meeting scheduled for Mission Beach was washed out by the recent flooding. However, the meeting will be rescheduled and held in February.”

Every council in Queensland is required to prepare a corporate plan. The CCRC plan will guide Council decision-making for this region over the next 10 years.

Cr. Shannon said the draft Corporate Plan would be available for community comment for at least 30 days prior to its adoption by the Council.

Copies of the draft plan will placed on the Council’s website and in all Council offices, including libraries, towards the end of February.

“We want to assure the residents of this region that the Council’s corporate plan will accurately reflect their hopes and concerns. This is their plan as well,” Cr. Shannon said.
