A Council officer will investigate an abandoned vehicle complaint and liaise with police if required. The officer will attempt to contact the owner to remove the vehicle. In some circumstances, the Council officer will issue either a 48-hour notice or 7 days notice to remove the vehicle, or have the vehicle removed immediately depending on the circumstances. The notice is placed on the vehicle in a visible location. If the vehicle is not removed within the stipulated time periods, Council will impound the vehicle.
