Bridges Bridges

Council has 160 bridges and 139 major road culverts which have a total length of 3km. From the 169 bridges there are:

  • 91 concrete bridges
  • 47 timber bridges
  • 30 composite (mixed material) bridges

These bridges range in length from 5 meters to 160 meters. The range of bridges by length are:

  • < 10 metres - 49 bridges
  • 10 - 20 metres - 79 bridges
  • 20 - 30 metres - 17 bridges
  • > 30 metres - 23 bridges

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

There are 23 bridges above 30 metres.  Alll of them are made of either pre-stressed concrete or concrete composite. There are four bridges over the Johnstone rivers (south and north) and one over the Tully River that are largest of the bridge portfolio. These bridges are the:

  • Geraldton Bridge - North Johnstone River - Pre-stressed concrete – 160 metres
  • Old North Johnstone River Bridge - North Johnstone River - Pre-stressed Concrete – 146 metres
  • Jubilee Bridge – South Johnstone River – Concrete arch – 126 metres
  • Tully River Bridge – Tully River – Reinforced Concrete – 111.2 metres
