Rubbish placed out after the area has been serviced will not be collected.

Only residences within township areas will be serviced. Rural properties will be serviced by request only. Requests must be made to Council office prior to close of business Friday 20th November, 2009.

Only waste which can be easily lifted by two people will be collected. Green waste, car bodies, large white goods, bricks, concrete, demolition rubble, tyres, batteries, chemical containers and other dangerous goods will not be collected.

Domestic waste (up to a utility/trailer load) including green waste, building rubble, recyclables and general refuse can be dropped off free of charge at any of Council’s waste transfer stations.

Those portions of the reserve which will be closed to the public will be the oval and surrounds, and the car park and surrounds. The Community Hall, toilets and access road will remain available for public use. The closed portions of the reserve will be defined with barrier-mesh or signage.

Members of the public using the Community Hall during working hours within the construction period are advised to park their vehicles on South Mission Beach Road and to exercise care when entering the reserve, paying particular attention to the movement of trucks onto the site.

The Cassowary Coast Regional Council has introduced Level 1 water restrictions, in accordance with the Council’s Water Use Restrictions Policy and the provisions of the State Government’s Water Supply (Safety and Reliability) Act 2008.

Level 1 water restrictions took effect on Friday 11th September, 2009 and shall remain in place until further public notice.

The following restrictions apply to the use of reticulated water supplied by the Council.

Permitted hours for sprinkler use
Private gardens and commercial land
Odd numbered properties Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday
Even numbered properties Wednesday/Friday/Sunday
Permitted watering times: 5:00 am to 7:00 am and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm
Sprinkler use is not permitted on Mondays.
Hand-held hoses with a trigger nozzle, watering cans or buckets can be used at any time.

The control program will utilise the chemical sodium fluoroacetate (1080) which is the most economic; efficient, and humane method of dog control available. When used correctly, there is a very limited threat to off-target wildlife species as members of the Canine family are highly susceptible to this chemical at extremely low dosage rates as will be used in this area. The program will be monitored closely by Biosecurity QLD staff and have a number of control measures put in place to minimise impacts.

The baiting program will run between Friday the 25th September, 2009 and Thursday 8th October, 2009.

Residents are responsible for restraining their pets over the 13 days of the program.
