Cassowary Coast Libraries have a wide range of resources for use in the libary and at home. You can search our collection by using our online catalogue. With over 60,000 items available for loan, we have something for everyone.
Stories for young and old and everyone in between, including novels, westerns, romance, mysteries & crime, science fiction, fantasy, graphic novels (comic books), picture books, board books & more!
Resources on a wide-variety of subjects, including biographies, cookery, personal health, travel, natural and applied sciences, history, art, gardening and more.
Magazines are available for loan on a variety of topics including science, sport, travel, cooking, art and more. eMagazines are also available through our eLibrary.
Current editions of newspapers are available for reading in each of our branches. Titles include: Cassowary Coast Independant News, Innisfail Advocate, Cairns Post, Townsville Bulletin, Courier Mail, Koori Mail, The Australian, and the Financial Times.
Historical issues of local newspapers are housed in our Innisfail and Tully branches, and are available on microfilm in our Innisfail branch. Local newspapers up until the end of 1954 have been digitised through the National Library of Australia and are available on Trove.
A wide array of fiction and non-fiction books on a variety of topics for readers who prefer a larger font size.
LOTE (Languages other than English)
Retain fluency in your first language, keep your culture alive or develop your skills in another language. Our LOTE collections contain fiction and non-fiction books and dvds for adults and children alike in a range of languages. Available at every branch, members can access books in more than 50 languages through State Library of Queensland. If you can't see the language you are looking for, please ask our friendly staff about what languages are available. See the list of LOTE Languages that can be requested.
Documentaries, TV series and films for young and old are available for loan.
Something to suit every musical taste - a large range of contemporary, popular, jazz, country, and world music available for loan.
Fiction and non-fiction books available to listen to on CD and MP3CD. A further selection of eAudiobooks are also available through our eLibrary.
Jigsaw puzzles are available for use in branch or for loan, with 500 and 1,000 piece puzzles for every skill level.
Book Club Sets
Contains 10 copies of one title, plus other book club material for use by local Book Clubs. Sets are available to library members who register for this service. Cassowary Coast Libraries can also provide a place for book clubs to meet.
eBooks, eAudiobooks and eMagazines
Available 24/7, library members are able to access an extended selection of titles in eBooks, eAudiobooks and eMagazines through our eLibrary.
Access accurate, relevant information on a huge array of topics. Online Databases contain articles from journals, magazines, books and other sources and provide reliable information that has been researched and reviewed by specialists. See our eResources page for more information.
Resources broadly relating to the natural and built environments, people, cultures and history of the Cassowary Coast and neighbouring regions, but not part of our local history collection. These books are shelved in their relevant subject area and are identifiable by the yellow bar on their spines. When searching on our online catalogue, you can use the Regional Resource shortcut to filter your search results to find items in this collection.
Including books, photographs, documents, maps, oral histories and microfiche/microfilm, our heritage collection contains primary and secondary local and family history resources. Donations of photos, documents and memorabilia are welcome and we offer a number of options to contribute to our region's heritage.
The Innisfail Heritage Collection covers the history of the former Johnstone Shire area and is housed in the Innisfail branch. The Dorothy Jones Local History Collection covers the history of the former Cardwell Shire area and is housed in the Tully branch.
