Cassowary Coast residents are being encouraged to open their hearts and their wallets to help the less fortunate in the Community Christmas Appeal.
Launched on Tuesday by Cassowary Coast Mayor John Kremastos, the appeal will once again aim to raise about $10,000 to buy hampers and or vouchers to be distributed to people within the community.
Cassowary Coast Mayor John Kremastos said in previous years the Cassowary Coast residents have been very generous, with last year’s appeal raising $8.173.
“Last year we had a lot of support from individuals and businesses and I’m hoping this year will be no different,” said Mayor Kremastos.
“Christmas can be a particularly difficult time for many and it can also be a lonely time for some.
“The annual appeal is in the true spirit of Christmas, with the money raised helping community organisations and support agencies to provide for people who are doing it tough in our community.”
Anyone can make a donation, big or small.
“Your generous contribution will help to spread some Christmas joy to those in our community who need it the most this year,” said Mayor Kremastos.
Donations for the annual Community Christmas Appeal can be made in person or over the phone with a credit card up to midday on December 21, 2018.
