How many items can I borrow?

Individuals can borrow up to 10 physical items at a time from any of our branches. You can also borrow eBooks, eAudiobooks and eMagazines through our Borrowbox, Overdrive and RB Digital platforms. Go to our eLibrary page for more information.

How long can I borrow items for?

You can borrow physical items for up to 3 weeks and magazines for 2 weeks. 
eBooks, eAudiobooks and eMagazines can be borrowed for 2 weeks.
Inter-library loans may have a different loan period.
 The due date will be printed on your loan receipt. 

Can I have items for longer if I haven't finished with them?

Yes, you can renew library items twice (except magazines and inter-library loans).  You can renew items over the counter, by logging in to your account on our onlline catalogue, by phone or email. Please note that items on reserve for someone else cannot be renewed. 

Can I renew my loans online?

Yes you can. Go to the catalogue screen and select Member Services. Log in using your library member number (found on your library card), making sure you use a capital for any letters. Your default password will be your date of birth expressed as an 8 digit number DDMMYYYY. See our Using the Catalogue page for more information about renewing online.

How do I join the library?

Becoming a member is quick and simple, and can be done at any of our 4 branches. Membership categories include Resident, Reciprocal, Visitor, Organisation and Online. To complete your application, staff will need to see your proof of ID and proof of address. Find out more on our Becoming a member page.

Where can I find a library branch?

We have branches in Cardwell, Innisfail, Tully and Wonglaing Beach. Check our Locations and Opening Hours page for locations, opening hours and contact details.

When are the libraries open?

Our catalogue and eLibrary is always available online, 24/7. Library branches are open weekdays and Saturday mornings, with hours varying at each location. Opening hours for the branches can be found on our Locations and Opening Hours page.

The item I want is not on the shelf. How can I get it?

If an item is held by another branch, or is listed as 'on loan' on the catalogue, you can reserve it. See our friendly staff for assistance or use our online catalogue. Log in to Member Services, search for the title, click on 'place reservation' and select the relevant pick-up location. For more information on how to do this, go to our Using the Catalogue page.

You don't have the item I want. Can you get it for me?

If we don't have the item you want, you can request it and we will try to get it for you, either by the inter-library loan system or by considering it for purchase.
