The Cassowary Coast Region has a rich history. A collection of over 4000 photographs relating to the southern part of the region are indexed on computer and available for viewing in Tully. Photos from this collection and the Innisfail Heritage Collection are now being added to the Library Online Catalogue (OPAC) for easy searching.
In addition, the local history collections at Tully and Innisfail include material documenting the history of the region. Back issues of the local newspapers are available.
At the Cardwell and Tully libraries, items from the collection of local historic photographs are on display. These items are regularly changed.
Displays and associated talks can be arranged for schools or other groups.
There are a range of print and microform materials available in our collections to help with researching your family's history.
Family history can also be researched using our free ancestry database, available in each branch.
The Latter Day Saints FamilySearch microfilms can be ordered from Utah and viewed at Innisfail Library. For more information on searching for records see the online guide. For information on ordering the films, read the Online Film Ordering guide.
