Cassowary Coast Regional Council

Joining and Borrowing Joining and Borrowing

Membership is not required for some library services but we encourage you to discover the lifelong benefits of library membership by filling out an application form at any library branch.

Becoming a member is easy and free for all Cassowary Coast Regional Council ratepayers and all permanent residents of Queensland. Staff will need to see a form of identification including your name and current residential address (e.g. a driver's licence or rates notice).

Young people (under the age of 18) will need to get the application form signed by a parent or guardian who has suitable identification.

Visitors and temporary residents are welcome to join upon payment of a refundable deposit.

Organisations such as companies, associations and schools can also join for free.  They will need to get their application form signed by a person with appropriate authority.

Members can borrow up to 10 physical items at a time and can keep those items for 3 weeks. You will need to produce your membership card each time you borrow from any branch. You can borrow eBooks or eAudiobooks for 2 weeks at a time.

Reservations can be placed on items which are on loan to another member or available at another library branch. This can be done in person at a branch, by phone or email, or online through the library catalogue.

Inter-library loans can be arranged for items not held in the Cassowary Coast Libraries collection. Check with our friendly branch staff.

We welcome purchase suggestions for items we don't hold, if they are in print and suitable for the collection.

Loans of physical items can be renewed for a further 3 weeks if they haven't been requested by another member in the meantime. You can renew by phone, mail, email, through the online catalogue or in person.

When renewing through the online catalogue sign in through Member Services with your member number (make sure you use capitals for any letters) and your password which is your date of birth expressed as DDMMYYYY.

Returns can be made in person at any branch during opening hours, or made through the after-hours book returns chute at the front of each branch when the branch is closed.

Reminder notices are sent for overdue items.

If you lose items or damage items beyond repair, you will be required to pay a replacement charge.
