First Five Forever
A family literacy program that aims to provide strong early literacy foundations for all Queensland children age 0-5 years. Funding enables Cassowary Coast Libraries to develop and deliver a range of early literacy activities, books & resources, from regular Baby Bounce and Story Time programs, to commmunity outreach programs, pop up libraries, and more.
Music, movement, rhythm and rhyme for littles ones under 2 years of age and their parents and carers. Part of our First Five Forever program, Baby Bounce supports the development of language skills in babies and toddlers. Older siblings are welcome.
Stories, singing and craft for children age 2-5 years and their parents and carers. Make reading a fun activity through Story Time and encourage early literacy, communication and social skills. Siblings welcome.
Games: Mah Jong, Scrabble, Puzzles & more
Meet with friends or like-minded people and enjoy a selection of games and jigsaw puzles available for use in the library. (Games may vary between branches).
Jigsaw puzzles also available for loan.
Imagine, create and play with Lego in the Library. A mix of guided and free play sessions encouraging imagination, creativity and sharing. Duplo is available for smaller children upon request.
Children under 12 to be accompanied by an adult.
Innisfail Regional Library hosts a free movie on the 3rd Friday every month. Come for a cuppa and a chat as we compare the book and the movie. Movies are usually subtitled for the hearing impaired.
Movies for Teens
Chill out in comfy lounges and bean bags with movie sessions just for teens at Innisfail Regional Library - 3rd Thursday of the month. Strictly for 12 - 17 year olds only. Movies rated G, PG or M. BYO snacks.
School Holiday Activities
We have lots of great acitivities, workshops, games and shows available for children and teens over the school holidays.
Summer Reading Club
A free program that aims to encourage and sustain literacy skills in primary and secondary school children over the long summer school holidays, and encourages recreational reading through a range of activities and programs. Runs from December to January.
Tech Savvy Regional Queensland
Learn the digital skills you need to access information online and keep in touch with family, friends and community. Open to all members of the community and ideal for people with no or limited experience in using technology. Topics include: smart phones, tablets, computers, email, internet, online banking, online shopping, social media and more.
