Aerial surveying to close Porter Promenade
Cassowary Coast Regional Council (CCRC) advises Porter Promenade at Mission Beach will be closed between Seaview Street and Clump Point for brief periods of up to 5 minutes on Thursday 14 June and Friday 15 June to carry out an aerial survey.
During this time pedestrians may also be asked to follow the directions of traffic controllers and ground crew to comply with Workplace Health and Safety requirements.
An Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV – commonly referred to as a drone) will be used for the survey work using 3D photogrammetry to capture survey-quality data. This has been identified by CCRC as the safest, most cost-effective and least-invasive means of surveying the large area required. The survey will become the foundation of Council’s 2018-19 Mission Beach Water Main Upgrade Project.
The Mission Beach Water Main Upgrade has been identified in CCRC’s forward design program. The project will involve the upgrade of the existing aged infrastructure along Porter Promenade to continue to provide a reliable service to the North Mission Beach area.
The aerial survey is being undertaken in accordance with Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) requirements, and is weather dependent on those dates.
We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause, and thank you for your support during this project.
