All roads, rail, ship and planes leave from Mundoo

The Cassowary Coast Regional Council’s (CCRC) vision for Mundoo is exciting and innovative without a doubt.

Mundoo, located in south Innisfail is ideally located and poised to become the next major intermodal logistics hub.

Council has invited “expressions of interest” that will form the basis of the “tender” to bring this exciting project to fruition.

The Mundoo, Northern Australia Aviation Logistics Hub (NAALH) offers an opportunity for inbound freight hubbing directly into Far North Queensland, reducing significantly the inbound air freight costs.

The benefits of Mundoo stretch far beyond the freight times and distances.  Mundoo airport operates without strict curfew and limiting weather conditions.  It’s prime location surrounded by a billion dollar banana industry as well as a burgeoning specialist small crop farming on the Atherton Tableland places Mundoo as the next outward bound transport logistics hot spot in Northern Australia.

“The Northern Australia Aviation Logistics Hub is perfectly placed, central within a thriving and diversified farming region, we are ready to become the food bowl for Asia” stated Cassowary Coast Mayor, John Kremastos.

“In addition to the freight hub, the Northern Australian Aviation Logistics Hub can cater for airside industry ranging from aircraft cleaning and maintenance through to commercial aviation”.
Mundoo is located adjacent to the major highways connecting Far North Queensland with Cape York and south to central Queensland, along with the north south rail link and a short 20 minute freight transfer to Mourilyan harbour.

In addition to the freight logistics, the NAALH could provide phytosanitary facilities, negating the requirement and expense connected with freighting produce to the only facility located in South East Queensland.

The Cassowary Coast Regional Council is calling for expressions of interest from freight and logistics providers interested in partnering with Council to develop the Northern Australian Aviation Logistics Hub.  The initial project review and report for this venture has been prepared by Aviation Projects. More details are available on Council’s website.
