Innisfail Taxi Rank Refurbishment Opens

The Innisfail Taxi Rank on Owen Street will be open to the community and taxis on Friday December 22, 2017. When fully completed the new facility will include new seats, a rubbish bin, drinking fountain and a wider shelter for better protection from the rain and wind.

The finishing touches will be added to the project in late January, early February as there have been a number of delays in obtaining certain building materials.

These include:

  • Notice Board (currently a steel frame on the footpath area)

  • Glass Panels (currently two steel frames closer to the road)

  • Stainless Steel Grate that will form the ramp (temporary measures will be put in place such as a plywood ramp)

Council apologises in advance for any inconvenience taxi rank users will endure until the finalisation of the project however the circumstances leading to the delays are beyond Council’s control.

“A lot of thought and care has gone into the upgrade of the taxi rank. Special consideration has been made to accommodate all members of the community including seniors and those with mobility restrictions. Users of the facility will find it a more pleasant experience during the coming wet season,” said Mayor John Kremastos.

Cassowary Coast Regional Council received funding for the $318,000 upgrade project through Queensland's Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR) Passenger Transport Infrastructure Investment Program.
