Mission Beach foreshore to be cleaned up
Cassowary Coast Regional Council (CCRC) will be undertaking vegetation management along the foreshore at Mission Beach from the beginning of June.
Works will occur on the foreshore from Seaview Street, through to the Mission Beach Caravan Park.
Cassowary Coast Regional Councillor Jeff Baines said the clean-up will involve sustainable trimming and removal of standing dead vegetation, management of tall weeds, and removal of coconut seedling thickets.
"This will improve the safety, scenic amenity and stability of the area," said Councillor Baines.
"It will also aid regeneration of this area that was severely impacted historically and by Cyclone Yasi."
Large shade trees will also be planted in selected locations to prevent weed re-establishment, improve scenic amenity and stabilise the foreshore.
Works are anticipated to occur over a week (weather permitting).
