Cardwell Visitor & Heritage Centre

The visitor information centre is in the Cardwell Bush Telegraph at 53 Victoria St (map).

The centre has a wide range of local and regional information along with great views of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park and Hinchinbrook Island. We have information on national parks, adventure tourist route Kirrama Range Road, the Forest Drive tourist route, rainforests and the islands of the Great Barrier Reef.  Cardwell is the gateway to Hinchinbrook Island and its Thorsborne Walking Trail, as well as great fishing destinations.

The Cardwell Bush Telegraph is the old telegraph station and post office whihc was built in 1870 so the visitor information centre is also a great place to look around and learn about North Queensland's pioneering days.
