COVID-19 Update 24/03/2020

Cassowary Coast Library buildings closed to the public.

Due to the latest advice from the Prime Minister and heightened concerns about public gatherings, Council advises that library buildings are closed to the public, with external borrowing facilities available until further notice.

To support our community during this time, Cassowary Coast Libraries has implemented the following:

  • current loans are extended to be due 1 May 2020
  • customers are encouraged to utilise the Member Services function on the Online Library Catalogue to reserve and renew their loans online, with considerations underway as to how book exchanges will be facilitated
  • After-hours returns chutes will remain open 24/7
  • Increased loan limits to 15 items
  • All items are available for a 3 week loan period (including magazines)
  • Library staff can be contacted by calling 1300 366 616 (Monday-Friday)
  • Pre-polling for the local government election will continue at the Innisfail and Cardwell libraries, with wheelchair access to Innisfail Library at the rear of the building.

As an alternative to book loans, Cassowary Coast Libraries reminds residents of our eLibrary services which offers a 24/7 digital library service allowing members to borrow from a huge range of e-books, e-audiobooks, e-magazines and movies. This service offers an incredible array of titles across each service and can be downloaded to computers or mobile devices.

Members of the community seeking to join the library are encouraged to do so via Member Services.
