Nuisance/Pollution
A nuisance is considered to be dust, smoke, air, light and noise generated from a property. Laws have been introduced to help make living in residential areas a more liveable place. These laws aim to assist in maintaining a balance between protecting the quality of life and monitoring thea activities that have the potential to annoy others within the community.
Noise Offence
· For residential premises the use of lawnmowers, power tools and hammers is restricted to between the hours of Monday to Saturday 7am – 7pm and on a Sunday or Public Holiday between the hours of 8am and 7pm.
· For residential or commercial construction sites the use of air compressors, concreting equipment, power tools, vibratory equipment, hammers and generators is restricted to between the hours of 6.30am to 6.30pm Monday to Saturday and no audible noise permitted on Sundays and Public Holidays.
· The noise of a dog barking or that of any other animal must not be audible in neighbouring premises, for periods exceeding ten (10) minutes in any period of one (1) hour.
