• Talk to your local Business Enterprise Centre, Advance Cairns BEC, for further information on all you need to know in setting up your business.
• Come in and meet with Council’s Economic Development Section
• Register your business name - start by downloading an application form from the Queensland Office of Fair Trading website
• Find information about registering your business name in Queensland with SmartLicence
• Register your website domain name with your internet service provider
• Apply for your Australian Business Number (ABN) online.  At the same time you can register for GST, PAYG withholding and TFN
• Get the relevant Council permits and licenses for your business
• Protect your brand with register logos, trademarks etc by referring to Intellectual Property.
• Look at your insurance needs by referring to Business Insurance.
