ANZAC Day 2021

ANZAC day, held on 25 April each year, is the national day of commemoration to acknowledge the service and sacrifice of our veterans. Not only do we remember the anniversary of the landing in Gallipoli in 1915, but we also remember those who have served and died in all wars.

The spirit of ANZAC, with its qualities of courage, mateship, and sacrifice, continues to have meaning and relevance for our sense of national identity. On ANZAC day, ceremonies will be held in towns across our region to acknowledge the service of our veterans.

COVIDSafe Services

In line with Queensland Health guidelines, anyone participating in a march will be required to sign in. Please check directly with event organisers for instructions on how to do this.

Social distancing of 1.5 m must be practiced and if you are unwell please pay your respects from home.

Last year as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak, the regions normal services were cancelled, and an idea which originated on social media within the Australian community, was supported and promoted across Australia as "Light Up the Dawn" by each State's RSL's with the first at home and suburban kerbside commemorations. Due to the popularity of this event, it is being held again in 2021- for more information or to register- please visit
