Healthcare & Medical Services
Known for its lifestyle attributes, the Cassowary Coast will continue to see an increase in retirees who relocate to the region. This increase has prompted the development of a number of aged-care services and medical facilities.
The region is serviced by two public hospitals and smaller community health facilities. It also provides specialist medical services to the significant indigenous population through indigenous health service providers.
The Cassowary Coast is home to the Healthier Great Greenways initiative and the Liveable Cassowary Coast Whole of Community Plan. The plan is a first-of-its-kind partnership program to be run by Queensland Health and a local government.
Council is keen to speak to organisations and individuals who are looking for opportunities to develop the region's health and medical services industry.
Opportunities exist for the establishment of:
- Lifestyle aged-care centres in Tully, Cardwell and Innisfail
- Private medical practices
