The Cassowary Coast region's current local laws and subordinate local laws came into effect on 1 January 2012.
Local laws cover a wide range of issues and activities ranging from how people can utilise parks and reserves, car parking, advertising signage and outdoor dining to how we keep and control our animals, overgrown allotments, pests and weeds, and nuisances such as noise and dust.
Local laws have been developed in accordance with the State Government's Local Government Act 2009.
More information about local laws can be found on the Queensland Local Laws database.
Our local laws officers investigate complaints of abandoned vehicles on roads and Council-controlled land. If you suspect a vehicle has been abandoned, you can contact Council's customer service team. View information about currenlty abandoned vehicles.
It is the responsibility of land owners to ensure their land does not pose a public health or safety risk. Council regularly inspects the region for overgrown allotments and issues notices to property owners to mow/clear in accordance with Council's Local Law. Contact Council if you need to report an overgrown lot.
Council regulates parking in Innisfail, Mission Beach and Tully. To report parking issues, you can contact Council.
To report any of the above issues, contact Council’s customer service team.
