Every spring school holidays locals and visitors alike gather for our annual Fishing Competition. The Tilapia Tournament is a fun, free, and family-friendly event with a purpose! This exciting competition is all about helping our environment. Catching Tilapia means removing invasive fish species from the Lakes waterways. With great prizes up for grabs, it's a chance to test your fishing skills, enjoy a day outdoors, and do your part to protect our native aquatic life.
Whether you're a seasoned angler or just keen to cast a line, everyone’s welcome to join in the action and support this important community effort.

RULES
Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
• All fishing participants must be registered.
• Fishing is permitted only on the dates registered on your ticket
• No dogs, alcohol or inappropriate behaviour will be tolerated. No spearguns or nets allowed.
• Fishing hooks and other waste should be disposed of appropriately.
• Under no circumstances is anyone to take fish carcasses off the premises.
• Captured tilapia must be measured and recorded at the measuring station before disposing in the bins provided.
• Warrina Lakes is also home to turtles, eels and other fish. Should you accidentally catch anything other than tilapia you must return it to the lake as safely as possible.
• Please also take care of our bird life including geese, ducks and ibis’ by not leaving hooks and fishing lines on the ground.
• Council will be monitoring the event – any participants in breach of these rules will beasked to leave.
