Composting Program

To claim your rebate, you’ll need to provide:

1. Completed Composting Program Application Form(PDF, 194KB).
2. Receipt for your compost bin or worm farm.
3. Proof of residency (e.g., rates notice or driver’s license).

Council will process the rebate and transfer it to your bank account.

• You must live in the Cassowary Coast Regional Council area.
• The rebate applies to compost bins or worm farms bought after 12 October 2015.
• One rebate per household.
• Valid tax invoices are required (no EFTPOS receipts).
• If the compost bin or worm farm costs less than $20, the rebate will be for the purchase price.
• The rebate doesn’t cover DIY composting or worm-farming materials.

Yes, you can purchase a second-hand system. To apply for the rebate, you’ll need to provide a valid tax invoice that includes the purchase date and details of the item. Please note that EFTPOS receipts are not accepted as proof of purchase.

The rebate is available to residents of the Cassowary Coast Regional Council area. Only one rebate is allowed per household, and the rebate is linked to the property, not to individual residents.

If your compost bin or worm farm costs less than $20, you will receive a rebate equal to the purchase price. If it costs $20 or more, you will receive the full $20 rebate.

No, the rebate is not available for materials used to build your own composting or worm-farming system. It only applies to purchased compost bins or worm farms.
