Types of Water Requests

We provide a variety of water-related services. Below, you’ll find information on different types of water requests that can be made to the Council:

New Water Connection Request or Disconnection Request

If you are building a new property or need to connect to the water network, you can apply for a new water connection. This applies to both residential and commercial properties and includes connection and disconnection.

Application for Testing of a Water Meter

If you believe that your water meter is not accurately reflecting your water usage, you can request a test to verify its accuracy. This form allows you to apply for a water meter test, which will help identify whether the meter is working correctly or if there may be a need for a replacement.

Please complete the form below with all necessary details to begin the testing process. Once submitted, our team will review your application and arrange for the meter to be tested. Please note fees apply to have your meter tested, so be sure to review the associated costs before submitting your request. If the meter is proven to be accurate in its registration, then the deposit is forfeited to Cassowary Coast Regional Council. If the meter is found to be reading over, then a new meter will be fitted and the deposit refunded. If a meter is under reading it may also be replaced by Council.

Application for Hydrant Test and Hydraulic Model Pressure/Flow Information

If you need to request a hydrant test or require hydraulic model pressure/flow information for your property or project, this form allows you to apply for these services. The hydrant test provides important information about the pressure and flow capabilities of the fire hydrant network, while the hydraulic model pressure/flow data helps ensure that water systems meet the necessary standards for various developments or emergency planning.

Application for Bore or Rainwater Tank

Hire of a Metered Standpipe

If you need to access water for temporary use, such as for construction, landscaping, or other projects, you can apply to hire a metered standpipe. This form allows you to request the use of a metered standpipe, which provides a reliable water supply for your needs while ensuring accurate billing based on your water usage.

Installation of a Subsidiary Meter

If you need to install a subsidiary meter on your property to separately monitor water usage for specific areas or tenants, this form is for you. The subsidiary meter allows for accurate measurement of water consumption in different parts of your property, helping with billing or managing usage for individual units or businesses.

Permission to Carry Out Alterations to Sewer/Water

If you need to make any alterations to the sewer or water systems on your property, you must obtain permission from the Cassowary Coast Regional Council before proceeding with the work. This form is required for anyone looking to carry out alterations, modifications, or connections to the existing water and sewerage infrastructure.

Water Restriction Exemption Request Form

During periods of water restrictions, residents and businesses are required to follow guidelines that help conserve our water supply. However, in certain circumstances, you may be eligible for an exemption.

The Water Restriction Exemption Request Form allows you to apply for permission to use water outside of the standard restrictions—for example, for essential business operations, medical needs, or newly established lawns and gardens.
