Volunteering with Council and small non-for-profit Organisations is a fantastic opportunity to meet new people, develop new skills, and make a positive difference in your local area. There are many ways you can get involved:

Community Nurseries – Help grow and care for native plants that support our local environment.

Visitor Information Centres – Welcome visitors and share your knowledge of the region.

Supporting Local Sporting Clubs – Assist with coaching, administration, fundraising, canteen duties, game-day operations, and committee roles.

Volunteering with Not-for-Profit Organisations – Help deliver programs, support community initiatives, assist with events, or contribute your professional skills.

Community Events and Activities – Work alongside local groups to deliver events that bring people together and strengthen community connections.

Mission Beach Information Center

Do you enjoy meeting people, sharing local knowledge, and supporting our community?

We are looking for friendly volunteers to assist visitors at the Mission Beach Information Centre.

No experience is necessary.

 If you have a few hours to spare and would like to make a difference, we'd love to hear from you.

Tully and Innisfail Community Nurseries

Whether you're a seasoned gardener or just starting out, this is the perfect opportunity to connect with fellow plant enthusiasts, enjoy a fun and social atmosphere, and make a real difference in your community.

Innisfail Volunteers: Thursdays, 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM

Tully Volunteers: Fridays, 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Shorebirds and Sea Turtles Watch

Register your interest in the shorebird and sea turtle monitoring volunteer program.

This community-based program supports the monitoring and protection of vulnerable shorebirds and sea turtles across priority coastal sites during important nesting and breeding periods.

Volunteers will help observe nesting activity, record information, and report signs of disturbance to improve understanding of species presence, nesting activity, and threats across the region.
