Register Your Lost Animal with Customer Service

If you have a lost or missing animal, you can report it to Council's customer service team. All animals that are picked up and impounded by Council's Local Law Officers will be checked against the lost animal register and the owners will be contacted where possible. Use this form or contact us in person at the Innisfail Shire Hall, 70 Rankin Street, or the Tully Civic Centre, 38-40 Bryant Street, or phone 1300 763 903.

Owners of animals displayed below will have three to five working days to organise collection, dependent on registration and microchipping requirements. To collect an impounded animal please contact Council Customer Service on 1300 763 903.

Process of Collection

  • Impound fees (if applicable) must be paid prior to the release of the animal and receipt presented at time of release.
  • Payment can be made by phoning 1300 763 903 or by visiting a Customer Service Centre.
  • If the dog or cat is not microchipped, the customer will need to make an appointment with their preferred vet and notify Council of the appointment time. A Council officer will deliver the dog/cat to the vet clinic for the purpose of microchipping and will then be released to the customer on the condition the criteria above have been met.
  • Collection is by appointment only. Please contact Council's Customer Service on 1300 763 903 to arrange an appointment. Appointments are available during Monday to Friday 9:00am – 4:00pm.

Payment Method

Release fees– payment can be made by credit card over the phone by calling 1300 763 903, or in person by card only at Customer Service Centres.

Dog registration – if an impounded dog is not yet registered, the registration can be completed by contacting customer service on 1300 763 903 or in person at a Customer Service Centre.

Penalties

If the animal was found wandering at large, an enclosure inspection may be required that may also result in a compliance notice being issued.

Unrestrained animal in a public place - $834.00 PIN (28 days to pay)
