Cassowary Coast Regional Council will temporarily relocate its Tully Customer Service from the Civic Centre to the Tully Library as part of a three-month trial running from 5 January to 31 March 2026.

The trial aims to assess whether delivering customer services from within the library provides a more convenient and accessible experience for the Tully community.

The move also supports preparations for planned upgrades to the Tully Civic Centre.

Mayor Teresa Millwood said the trial is an opportunity to explore how Council can deliver services in ways that better meet community needs.

“We want to make it easier for people to access the services they use most,” Mayor Millwood said.

“The library is already a well-used community space with convenient parking and extended opening hours.

“This trial will help us understand whether combining services in one location offers real benefits for residents.

“We’re encouraging everyone who visits customer service during the trial to share their feedback. Their experiences will directly influence the decision on the long-term location.”

What this means for you

Community members can continue to access the full range of customer services at the library, including enquiries, payments and general support.

Only the location has changed – services will continue as normal throughout the trial.

Customer service hours during the trial

Customer Service opening hours will change to 9.30am to 4.30pm on Mondays, and from 8.30am to 4.30pm Tuesday-Friday.

Library services hours will remain the same: 10am to 5pm on Mondays, 9am to 5pm Tuesday-Friday, and from 9am to 12 noon on Saturdays.

Have your say

From 5 January, Council will begin a feedback period, inviting customers to complete a short survey rating their experience accessing Customer Service from the library.

At the end of the three-month trial, Council will review feedback from both customers and staff.

These insights will be used to inform Council’s decision on the most suitable long-term location for Tully Customer Service.

Next steps

Following the review of feedback and operational data, Council will present its findings before deciding on the permanent location.

Council thanks residents for their understanding and support during this trial period.
