These events are a chance to thank our incredible volunteers, who are the backbone of our community, and to encourage others to explore the many ways they can make a difference.
 
Local organisations are also invited to set up stalls to showcase their work and connect with potential volunteers.
 
Volunteering is a vital part of the Cassowary Coast community. According to the 2021 ABS Census, 14.5% of residents in the region volunteered their time in the past year, surpassing the Queensland and national averages of 14.1%.

 

Across Queensland, 2.8 million people volunteer their time annually, contributing over 720 million hours and generating an economic and social benefit valued at $117.8 billion. However, volunteering has declined by at least 10% in recent years, with 30% of people expressing a desire to volunteer but facing barriers.

The Council is committed to supporting volunteers and addressing these challenges by creating flexible, meaningful opportunities for everyone to get involved.
