We’re providing residential ratepayers with two free waste vouchers per year to make it easier and more convenient for residents to clean up their properties, especially ahead of wet seasons. This aims to support residents in managing household waste, encourage property cleanups, and reduce illegal dumping across the Cassowary Coast.
Key things to note about your voucher:
Vouchers cannot be used for tyres, fridges, freezers, air conditioners, solar panels, asbestos or other materials that attract a separate disposal fee.

We’ve issued waste disposal vouchers to eligible residential properties within the Cassowary Coast Regional Council area. Voucher QR codes are registered against the residential property address.
Eligible residential properties receive two vouchers per year, with one voucher issued with each rates notice.
Each voucher is valid until the nominated expiry date listed on the base of the voucher or until used. Expired vouchers cannot be reissued or used after the expiry date.
You can use your voucher at any Cassowary Coast Regional Council Waste Transfer Station.
You can use your voucher to dispose of a small, medium or large residential load of dry household waste. Waste Transfer Station staff will determine the appropriate load category at the time of disposal. Please see our full terms and conditions.(PDF, 388KB)
Each voucher is valid for a single use only and can’t be combined with additional vouchers.
Each voucher is valid for one use only. Once your voucher has been scanned, it becomes invalid.
Additional disposal fees may apply for any waste that exceeds the voucher entitlement.
Green waste is already accepted free of charge from residents at our Waste Transfer Stations and doesn’t require a voucher.

You can only use your voucher for residential household waste. Normal charges still apply for commercial and industrial waste.
We’ve issued vouchers to property owners with rates notices. We encourage landlords and property managers to pass vouchers on to their tenants. Cassowary Coast Regional Council is not responsible for distributing vouchers to private residential tenants. Please contact your property manager or landlord for further information.
We’ve issued vouchers to property owners, who may choose to keep the voucher for their personal use or pass it on to tenants. We encourage passing the vouchers on to tenants so to help them correctly manage waste at the property.
We can replace lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed vouchers. Please go to our homepage and click on ‘Report an Issue’.
Vouchers QR codes are registered against the residential property. Property owners can choose to use the voucher associated with their property. We encourage passing the vouchers on to tenants so to help them correctly manage waste at the property.
Vouchers have no cash value and can’t be exchanged for cash, credit, or a refund.
Expired vouchers can’t be reissued or used after the expiry date. A valid voucher needs to be presented, or normal disposal costs will apply.
Your voucher will be included as a QR code with your rates notice. When visiting a waste transfer station, you can display the QR code on your device for staff to scan.
The vouchers replace the domestic clean-up weekends previously offered.
Council does not provide a service to transport household waste to a waste transfer station. If you need assistance, you could ask a family member, friend or neighbour, post on a local community Facebook group, or contact a local waste removal provider.
