Coastal Recovery Works Update

Sand nourishment works at Cardwell is progressing well with further open space, coastal protection (groyne) and drainage infrastructure repair to continue to occur.

Sand nourishment will now move north and commence at South Mission Beach on 31 October 2025.

Works will consist of delivering sand to a 700m section of beach at Kennedy Esplanade, between Jackey Jackey Street and Owen Street.

To ensure public safety, beach access will be limited around the works site when nourishment activities are taking place.

Residents are reminded to remove any personal objects from the foreshore. Failure to do so will see council staff collect the items and owners may need to pay to recover them.

Council appreciates your patience as the work progresses and will continue to provide updates as works are undertaken.
