Mission Beach is home to Australia’s second-largest lowland rainforest and the country’s highest density of cassowaries. To help protect these unique natural assets while balancing the needs of sustainable development, the Mission Beach Mapping & Planning Project is now underway.

This new initiative, funded by the Cassowary Coast Regional Council and supported by James Cook University, Terrain NRM and Friends of Ninney Rise, will map key habitats and corridors across the Mission Beach area.

Community input will be essential as the project progresses. Residents and stakeholders will have opportunities to learn more, stay informed, and take part in upcoming activities designed to shape the future of Mission Beach.
