Tully Gorge Road Slope Remediation
- Project typeSlope Remediation
- Completion Date20 October 2026
Council will be undertaking slope remediation works on Tully Gorge Road, west (upstream) of the Tully River bridge, on 20 October 2026.
These works are being carried out to stabilise two landslip sites along Tully Gorge Road and improve safety for road users.
What works are being done?
The project will involve:
- earthworks
- installation of rock fill material
- soil nailing
- hanging mesh installation
- gabion basket installation
- drainage structure works
- rockfall barrier installation
When will works take place?
Works are scheduled to start on 20 October 2026 and are expected to continue until July 2027, weather and site conditions permitting.
Working hours
- Monday to Friday: 7.00 am to 5.30 pm
- Some Saturdays: 7.00 am to 1.00 pm
What impacts can the community expect?
Residents, businesses and visitors in the area may experience:
- single-lane closures during works
- changed traffic conditions
- noise associated with construction activities
- potential road closures at times
A give way system will be in place for the duration of the works. While one lane is likely to be closed during construction, significant disruption to traffic is not expected and most motorists are unlikely to be affected.
Please take care when travelling through the area, follow all signage and directions, and allow for minor delays when planning your trip.
Why are these works needed?
These works are necessary to stabilise sections of slope affected by landslip and to reduce the risk of further movement or rockfall along Tully Gorge Road.
