Cassowary Coast Regional Council has secured $5.1 million through the Queensland Government's Residential Activation Fund to deliver critical water infrastructure supporting future residential development at Coquette Point.
The funding will deliver a new water pump station, a 4.75-kilometre water main and associated infrastructure, improving water security for existing residents while providing the essential services needed to unlock future housing opportunities in the area.
Mayor Teresa Millwood welcomed the announcement, saying the investment would help Council plan for future growth while ensuring the region has the infrastructure needed to support new communities.
"This funding is a significant investment in the future of the Cassowary Coast," Mayor Millwood said.
"By delivering this essential water infrastructure, we're helping unlock future residential development at Coquette Point and ensuring our region is well positioned to accommodate future growth."
The funding forms part of the Queensland Government's award-winning Residential Activation Fund, which supports infrastructure projects that enable new housing across the state.
Council looks forward to working with the Queensland Government to deliver the project and support future housing opportunities for the Cassowary Coast.
