August rate notices rolling out with new waste disposal vouchers
Published on 14 August 2026
We are issuing our August rate notices from 12 August, with this year’s notice including continued on-time payment discounts and a new waste disposal voucher for residential ratepayers.
If you are signed up to EzyBill you can log in and view your rate notice now.
This year, we are introducing two free waste disposal vouchers each year for residential ratepayers, with one voucher included in each rate notice.
The vouchers are designed to make property clean-ups easier, especially ahead of the wet season, while helping households manage waste and reducing illegal dumping across the Cassowary Coast.
Each voucher can be used for one eligible load of dry household waste, is valid until the expiry date shown on the voucher, can only be used once, is linked to the property it was issued to, and can be used at any Cassowary Coast Regional Council waste transfer station.
The vouchers cannot be used for tyres, fridges, freezers, air conditioners, solar panels, asbestos, or other materials that attract a separate disposal fee.
More information about the waste disposal voucher program is available at: cassowarycoast.qld.gov.au/Waste-Disposal-Vouchers
We know cost-of-living pressures are continuing to affect households across our region, so we are retaining the discount for ratepayers who pay on time.
We have also worked hard to keep increases in general rates as low as possible, with owner-occupied general rates increasing by five per cent.
For most owner-occupiers, that means an average general rate increase of $90 a year, or about $1.73 a week.
We have also limited increases to water and waste charges to cost recovery.
Ratepayers can pay online through Payble, our secure online payment platform, where you can set up and manage your own payment schedule using a bank account, debit card or credit card.
To get started, simply scan the unique QR code on your rate notice or visit Payble.
All payment plans are now managed through Payble, with interest applying.
If you are experiencing hardship or having difficulty paying your rates, please contact our Customer Services team as soon as possible to discuss available payment arrangements.
Other payment options are still available, including online, over the phone, in person at Council offices by card, or in cash at Australia Post. Full details are available at cassowarycoast.qld.gov.au/Rates
Quote attributed to Deputy Mayor Nicholas Pervan:
“By retaining the on-time payment discount and introducing free waste vouchers for residential ratepayers, we’re providing practical support while continuing to deliver the essential services our community relies on.”
