BBQ Shelter Replacement Works – Taifalos Park, Kurrimine Beach

Project Overview
Cassowary Coast Regional Council will be undertaking renewal works at the BBQ shelter area within Taifalos Park, Kurrimine Beach.
The existing shelter, concrete slab, picnic setting and BBQ facilities have reached the end of their service life and will be removed and replaced with new infrastructure to improve the park's functionality and appearance for the community.
Scope of Works
The project includes:
• Removal of the existing BBQ shelter, slab and BBQ facilities
• Construction of a new concrete slab
• Installation of a new modern shelter
• Installation of a new electric BBQ and associated fittings
• Site reinstatement and finishing works
Construction Schedule: 23 June – 30 July 2026 weather permitting
Following demolition, construction of the new slab, shelter and BBQ facilities will commence as soon as practical, subject to contractor availability and weather conditions.
Working Hours
Works will be undertaken on weekdays only:
Monday to Friday 6:00am – 3:00pm
Temporary Impacts
During construction:
• The BBQ shelter area will be temporarily closed to the public
• Access to sections of the park may be restricted to ensure public safety
• Residents and visitors may experience minor construction noise during working hours
Council will make every effort to minimise disruptions and complete the
works as efficiently as possible.
