The Cassowary Coast Regional Council is calling on young people aged 15 to 25 to step up and have their voices heard by joining the Youth Advisory Committee. Expressions of interest are open now and close on 16 August 2026.

This exciting initiative is part of Council’s commitment to addressing community priorities identified in the Cassowary Coast Community Scorecard and the Community Voice Action Plan. Youth Services was highlighted as one of six key areas of focus, and the creation of a Youth Advisory Committee is a direct response to this feedback.

The committee will provide a platform for young people across the region to share their ideas, insights, and concerns with Council, ensuring their voices are represented in decision-making processes. It’s an opportunity for youth to shape the future of the Cassowary Coast and contribute to creating a region they want to live, work, and stay in.

Membership Details:

Representation will include 3 members each from Innisfail, Tully, Mission Beach, and Cardwell.

Members must:

• Reside in the Cassowary Coast region.

• Be aged between 15 and 25 years.

• Obtain a current Working with Children Blue Card if over 18 years (Council will assist with this process).

• Have parental permission to participate if under 18 years.

As a Youth Advisory Committee member, you will:

• Advise Council on issues important to youth in the region.

• Provide input on youth involvement in Council’s planning and decision-making.

• Help shape Council’s engagement with young people.

• Showcase bold ideas for the future of the Cassowary Coast.

Council is looking for passionate and motivated young people who are eager to contribute to the future of their local community.
