Cassowary Coast Regional Council and PCYC Queensland are pleased to announce PCYC Queensland as the new operators of the Innisfail Aquatic Centre.
The appointment follows a recent tender process for the future management of the facility, which received multiple competitive submissions.
The successful tenderer was approved and announced at the April 2026 Local Government Meeting.
Cassowary Coast Mayor Teresa Millwood thanked Marlin Coast Swimming and Fitness for their management of the aquatic centre over the past 18 months and welcomed PCYC Queensland into the role.
“Marlin Coast Swimming and Fitness provided a wonderful service to the community and I’m sure they will be missed by many regular pool users,” Mayor Millwood said.
“It’s great to see such a well-known organisation awarded the contract. PCYC Queensland is already a major contributor to our local community.
“PCYC in Innisfail already provide important programs for our youth and affordable memberships for our local families, with something for all ages and all levels of fitness.”
“The management of the Innisfail Aquatic Centre will be a natural extension of this, and we look forward to seeing what PCYC Queensland brings to the facility and the wider community.”
PCYC Queensland Chief Executive Officer Phil Schultz said the organisation was excited to expand its presence in the region through the management of the Innisfail Aquatic Centre.
"We are extremely pleased to be diving into the management of the Innisfail Aquatic Centre.”
"PCYC Queensland already has a presence in this region, with PCYC Innisfail offering programs and sport and recreation to the area's young people. It's very rewarding to now also be able to offer our aquatic services to this terrific community.”
"Our team has been working closely with Cassowary Coast Council, and I am confident the pool and its programs will be popular with local swimmers. Swimming and aquatic programs are so important to local families, and we look forward to welcoming everyone into the pool."
Preparations are now underway for the pool’s annual winter shutdown during June and July.
Scheduled maintenance and repair works will be carried out ahead of the pool reopening in August, when PCYC Queensland will officially take the dive into operating the facility.
Residents can now register their interest and learn more about upcoming programs, including Little n Active H2O and Swim Ready, through the new PCYC Innisfail Pool website at www.pcyc.org.au/location/pcyc-innisfail-pool/
