The Innisfail Library will be temporarily closed from Monday, 13 July, to Sunday, 24 August 2026 to allow for exciting renovations that will improve and modernise the library space.

Temporary Pop-Up Library:
To ensure continuity of service during the closure, a Pop-Up Library will operate at Meeting Room 3, Innisfail Shire Hall (street-level).

  • Operating Hours:
    • Mondays: 9:30am – 4:30pm
    • Tuesdays to Fridays: 8:30am – 4:30pm

Services available: Borrowing and returning popular items, with a staff member on hand to assist.

Library Programs:

While no programs will run at the Pop-Up Library, regular programs such as First 5 Forever, Tech Help, and others will continue at:

  • Tully, Cardwell, and Mission Beach Libraries
  • Kurrimine Beach Progress Hall (special sessions)

Visit our Programs Page at cassowarycoast.qld.gov.au/libraries for details on program schedules and locations.

About the Renovations

The renovations aim to create a refreshed and more functional library space, including:

  • Enlarged community spaces for children, families, youth, and adult workshops.
  • A new gallery display wall and updated shelving arrangements.
  • Relocation of public PCs to a quieter, more secure location, freeing up the entrance foyer.
  • New carpets and improved lighting to brighten the space.
  • A new supervisor office to enhance workflows and staff security.
  • A height-adjustable workstation near the print-copier to improve accessibility.

These upgrades will also address community feedback regarding the need for suitable spaces to host events such as monthly movies and school holiday programs.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to create a better library for our community. We look forward to welcoming you back to a refreshed and revitalised Innisfail Library on Monday, 24 August 2026.
