FLOOD THREAT REDUCED – Cardwell Area – 1:15pm, Monday 3 February 2025

Warning area: Cardwell Area  

This message is issued by Cassowary Coast Regional Council on behalf of the Cassowary Coast Local Disaster Management Group. 

The flood risk in the Cardwell area has now been reduced. However, a small risk of localised intense rainfall with thunderstorm activity remains possible, and residents should stay informed via radio and the warnings issued by the Bureau of Meteorology: www.bom.gov.au/qld/warnings.

Flood Safety Advice:

Remember: If it's flooded, forget it. For flood emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500. For life threatening emergencies, call Triple Zero (000) immediately.

If you need to drive to safety:

  • Slow down and drive with caution.
  • Never drive through floodwater – turn around, don’t drown!
  • Watch for debris, fallen trees, damaged roads, and landslides.
  • If conditions worsen, find a high, safe place away from trees and drains.
