Paronella Park Swing Bridge

Cassowary Coast Regional Council would like to provide an update on the much-loved swing bridge at Paronella Park.

The bridge is currently closed to the public while safety assessments are being carried out. As a precautionary measure, access has been temporarily restricted while Council awaits the findings of this engineering report. Council officers are working with the Department of Transport and Main Roads to consider and implement short term measures to manage pedestrian safety while the swing bridge remains closed.  Users are reminded to be mindful of their safety and traffic risks if they utilise the road bridge.

Council will carefully consider the options available, to bring the bridge up to modern safety standards, balancing safety, heritage, and community interest.

We understand this temporary closure may be disappointing and sincerely thank the community for its patience and understanding during this time. We hope you take the time to still enjoy what Paronella Park and Mena Creek have to offer this school holidays. Council will continue to keep you informed as more information becomes available.
