Geraldton Bridge, Innisfail- Temporary Change to Traffic Conditions

Back

Council would like to advise the community of temporary changed conditions on Geraldton Bridge, Innisfail on Thursday, 7 December 2023, subject to weather and site conditions.

For the safety of workers and road users, from 9:15am to 11:45am, a temporary single lane closure will be in effect on the bridge.

This lane closure is necessary for a structural review of the watermain brackets beneath the bridge. Traffic control measures will be in place to facilitate a 'stop-go' system, ensuring the smooth flow of traffic in both directions.

To minimise inconvenience to community members commuting to work or dropping children off at the nearby school, this operation has been scheduled during non-peak hours. While minor delays are expected, we recommend the traveling public consider the changed traffic conditions when planning their journey.

These works are part of planning to undertake maintenance on the Geraldton Bridge, Innisfail. The maintenance works on Geraldton Bridge will preserve the ongoing functionality of the bridge and help to meet future operational requirements.

We thank our community for their patience and understanding and apologise for any inconvenience that these investigation works may cause.
