Temporary Closure of Perry Harvey Jetty – June 2025

Back

Cassowary Coast Regional Council, in partnership with Department of Science, Environment, Tourism and Innovation (DETSI), advises that Perry Harvey Jetty at Clump Point, Mission Beach, will be temporarily fenced off and closed to the public from Thursday 19 June to Friday 27 June 2025 to allow essential maintenance works on the Clump Point storm tide gauge.

What’s Happening?

Council and DETSI has appointed Phoenix Laser Cleaning and Restoration to carry out rust removal and recoating works on the storm tide gauge infrastructure, which has experienced rusting since installation following Cyclone Yasi in 2011.

During this period, public access to the jetty will be restricted for safety reasons. We kindly ask residents and visitors to plan ahead and follow all onsite signage and instructions.

Additional Information:

·         The contractor may require vehicle access to deliver equipment.

·         If a generator is required, it will be positioned to ensure minimal impact on jetty access and environmental safety.

·         The project is expected to be completed with minimal disruption to the surrounding area.

We appreciate your understanding as we undertake this important maintenance to ensure the long-term safety and functionality of our coastal infrastructure.
