Local Mural Artist Engaged to Lead Street Art Project
Cassowary Coast Regional Council is proud to announce the launch of a youth-led public art project that will bring vibrant new energy to the Tully Showgrounds.
This exciting initiative is funded through the Regional Arts Development Fund and aims to empower young locals through creative expression while enhancing one of the region’s key community spaces.
Local large-scale mural artist Cam Scale has been engaged to lead the project. With extensive experience in graffiti and street art workshops involving young people and communities, Cam will collaborate with students from Tully State High School to design and install a mural across the entrance to the Tully Showgrounds, including the Stan MacKay Building, Tully Show Society building, and the Horticultural Pavilion.
Mayor Teresa Millwood said the mural will act as a vibrant new entrance statement to the Tully Showgrounds, celebrating the community's culture while creating a welcoming and dynamic space for all.
"This is a fantastic example of creativity and community coming together," Mayor Teresa Millwood.
"Not only will this project help brighten and revitalise a key public space, it’s also a meaningful opportunity for local youth to get involved, express themselves, and contribute to something lasting in our region."
As part of the project, local young people are invited to take part in a special public art workshop and artistic display on Sunday 3 August 2025, from 9.30am to 11.30am. Bookings are essential (open 25 July and will close 1 August) and can be made via the following link: www.trybooking.com/DDVQO
Council would like to thank Tully State High School, Tully Lions Club, Tully Show Society, Tully Pickleball, and Tully Boxing for their ongoing support of this creative initiative.
